The International Centre for Holistic Healing and Allied Research (ICHHAR) aims to promote the science of alternative systems of medicines and raise their status. It propagates research as well as practice in the fields of alternative medicines and works to improve and enhance the standards as well as quality of alternative medicine system. It supports study in this field and provides quality content and methods to encourage accomplishment amongst practitioners. It spreads awareness about alternative medicines through training, educational courses, refresher courses, gatherings, talks, discussion groups, workshops, reports, papers, negotiations, excursions, debates, demonstrations, camps, journals, professional contacts etc. with adequate knowledge of related fields as well.
It works to maintain the standards, quality, as well as the honour of the alternative system of medicines and related subjects.
It gives certified permission to, as well as maintains a register of practitioners, who have degrees, diplomas or certificates etc. of the institute, who are from either any college or institution of alternative medicines affiliated to the council or any authentic university, and who have experience in any branch of alternative systems of medicine by award of a Registration Certificate to them. Such a practitioner shall be known as a Registered Medical Practitioner (R.M.P.).
It gives the Registered Medical Practitioners, enrolled by the Institute, the right to practice as qualified physicians, without any constraint, and permits them to issue medical certificates such as sickness, fitness etc. or any other certificate required by any law.
It sets up the Faculty to organize the examinations of institutions or colleges teaching alternative medicines system and to award degrees like Ph.D.(AM), M.D.(AM), Master and Bachelor, diplomas, certificates etc. thereof.
It also sets the rules and guidelines as well as a code of conduct for the practitioners.
It attempts to improve and keep up community health with regard to the system of alternative medicines.
It provides magazines, journals, books, etc. for the promotion of alternative system of medicines.
It establishes, supervises, funds as well as maintains the quality of hospitals, research institutes, dispensaries, etc. for alternative systems of medicine.
It also undertakes various social activities like maintenance of proper health care, sanitation, setting up of libraries, social welfare actions, family care awareness, and relief to those affected by natural or man made calamities.
It certifies, sets up, organizes, and maintains manufacturing laboratories of medicines that work on the basis of the pharmacopoeias of alternative medicines. It keeps in mind their capacity and suggests only reliable manufacturers to the government for obtaining necessary permits, licenses or quotas etc. of manufacturing essentials.
It takes all such lawful actions that are necessary and favourable for the attainment of any of the above objectives.
