Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is actually an ancient but still really vital and basic holistic system of healing and is based properly on the notion of equilibrium and harmony. Traditional Chinese medicine also employs the ideas of prevention and moderation as a part of its method.

Description:

In relation to practice and theory, the traditional Chinese medicine is entirely different from the Western medicine, both in relation to how illness originates and must be treated and how actually the human body functions. As a section of continuing system which has been in usage since thousands of years, it is at present also engaged in order to cure about one-quarter of the total population of the world. As the earliest Chinese physicians were philosophers too, their methods of viewing the entire world and the role of human beings in it actually affected all their medicines. In TCM, medically and philosophically, the moderation in different things is properly advocated, just like living in peace with the nature and also straining for equilibrium in all the different things in the whole world. The Prevention is another key aim of the Chinese medicine, and more of the emphasis is laid on educating the patients to live their life as a responsible human beings.

Chinese physician is more like an advisor than the authoritative person, the physician actually believes in curing each and every patient in a different manner. It is entirely based on the impression that the physician does not treat the ailment or the disease but instead the patient individually. Therefore, it signifies that two people having similar problem may be cured in completely different ways if their life situations and constitutions are not similar. The disease is also regarded to be an evidence of the loss of preventive health care and a condition which originates due to imbalance or failure.

There is some confusion in relation to fundamental philosophical principles of TCM in the West. The first one is the concept of Yin and Yang. These are described as the interdependent association of opposing but complementary drives which are important for a healthy human life. Secondly, the impression of five elements which are water, metal, earth, fire and wood. These elements are grounded in the impression of balance and harmony. The third is the concept of chi by which it refers to “energy” or “life force” which is most significant in Western ideas.

TCM is now world famous and many of the researchers are making research and learning these methods. There is almost no harm using these methods if you are ailing from some disease. A proper guidance will lead you to a happy and a healthier life.
